International Conflict Prevention Consortium

On May 4-5 2006 , Intercomm hosted the International Conflict Prevention Consortium's fourth conference in its newly refurbished 290 Antrim Road headquarters. The Conference was mainly funded through the Belfast Local Strategy Partnership and participants included representatives from organisations such as International Alert, International Crisis Group and Search for Common Ground as well as Intercomm, the Belfast LSP and Queen's University.

During the two-day conference a number of topics were covered relating both to international and local Conflict Prevention. The delegates were also given a demonstration of Intercomm's new World Bank GDLN Video Conference System through a link-up with the Northern Ireland Bureau in Washington .

The International Conflict Prevention Consortium aims to prevent armed conflict through collaborative action among individuals, governments, inter-governmental organisations and Civil Society. The Consortium is co-chaired by Intercomm Director Liam Maskey and International Alert's Director Dan Smith.
