Intercomm's Executive Director, Liam Maskey took part in a Northern Ireland delegation to Sri Lanka on 22-29 January 2006 . The visit was organised by INCORE ( University of Ulster ) and the Sri Lankan NGO Neelan Tiruchelvam Trust and the delegation consisted of senior Northern Ireland civil servants along with INCORE staff and Director. The aim of the visit was to share Northern Ireland experiences in the fields of economic regeneration and peacebuilding and for instance how business can get involved in peace. The aim was also to strengthen the Neelan Tiuchelvam Trust's partnership with the business community and to strengthen the NGO's ability to make interventions to take the peace process in Sri Lanka forward in partnership with civil society and the business community. During the visit, the Northern Ireland delegates were given the opportunity to meet with a wide range of high profile people, for instance Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa, business executives and Tamil and Muslim political leaders . The delegates also took part in the two-day Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) Economic Summit and attended a regional meeting in Jaffna with representatives from Jaffna , Kilanochichi, Mullaitivu, Trincomalee and Batticaloa .
