Intercomm Ireland, in association with the world bank announces the first GDLN Video Conference Center to open in Northern Ireland.

The Global Development Learning Network is a partnership of more than 60 distance learning centers and other public, private and non-governmental organisations around the world committed to development learning and development dialogue for lasting poverty reduction. More than 30,000 people participate in GDLN events every year. Dialogue and learning exchanges among developing countries are a common feature. GDLN currently interconnects 60+ centers spanning 50 countries, 9 time zones and more than 30 different languages.

In addition to the co-ordination with the world bank, Intercomm Ireland will be developing its own links for the center. These will include working with businesses, local government and for the pursuit of peace and reconciliation in areas of conflict or bitter division.
